(6/15/09,  Los Alamitos)  Once again, it’s your turn to be the reporter and or commentator on tonight’s Los Alamitos City Council meeting.

Whether you’re there in person tonight or watching Los Al TV, when you get a chance tell us what your saw and what you thought.  Remember, many of our citizens don’t get LosAl TV or won’t be watching, so describing what you see is important.

If you want to follow along on the agenda, click here and it should open in another window.

Please try to be respectful and use polite language.  Thanks.

Hello? Anybody go to or watch the Council Meeting? I just finished grilling for Nate’s graduation party, & plumb forgot to DVR it, so would appreciate any info you might have.

    Thanks.

Gerri Mejia has been on the council for 2.5 years and was elected to that council. Dean Zarkos was appointed, three months ago, not elected by anybody in the community. The four CC members who did not vote for Councilmember Mejia for the appointment she requested to the League of Cities just voted against every resident who voted for her. I recommend that in the next election when Edgar and Zarkos run for reelection that no one vote for them. Zarkos said he was going to the San Jose conference anyway because he has “experience” with legislators. That is wonderful for him and I would not object to him going to any conference he wants to attend. However, I would just like to point out that nothing has changed on this council, we exchanged one Dean for another Dean. The four majority still exists.

BTW since Dean Zarkos is so experianced with the legislative aspect of government….how is it he didn’t know he and Gerri could vote for themselves when it went to a vote?

    Can you say “clueless”

Who do they think they are kidding? It is amazing to me that Poe can offer up her position on the League of Cities, but only to Gerri. Dean needs to take a backseat and learn to be a team player. He thinks he knows legislature, so what. There is plenty more to learn about city government, respect, and honor. The majority needs to wake up and listen to the voters, not their own thoughts and agendas. Before long the new blog will be
letsflosal and Troy will be King of the Empire.

After viewing the rerun of Monday’s meeting, I am shocked at the attitude of Councilmember Zarkos. He is rude to just about everybody. For someone who lucked out and received an appointment from a not so great interview, he is pretty cocky! A word to the not so wise councilmember, stop insulting people from the dais….you look like a jackass!

  6. Zarkos on June 17th, 2009 3:56 pm

Why would Zarkos be any different than Edgar?

This city deserves what it gets…the best leadership money and lies can buy (LOL!).

    Too bad, how sad!

Sounds like an interesting meeting. I just set my DVR to record it tonight at 8 p.m. when it will be rebroadcast.

    FYI, it’s also scheduled for this Fri – Sun. @ 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Can anybody tell me how long it lasted?

While you’re setting your DVR, you might want to go ahead and just start recording at 7 p.m. & catch the current Backstory about Los Alamitos High’s amazing Jazz band and Chuck Wackerman, the even more amazing veteran teacher who’s been leading it for decades.

BTW, I just put up a permanent link to the most current LosAlTV schedule in the right hand column under “Useful Links,” “LosAlTV 3 schedule.” No more guessing when your favorite show’s on.

    You’re welcome. ;)

I haven’t paid too much attention to the what’s been happening in town lately but, I thought I’d watch a CC Meeting and catch up. Seems nothing has changed. The only positive thing for Troy is councilmember Zarkos. It seems that in the shame of an active recall campaign going on against him, he now has a bigger idiot with an ego to hide behind…Zarkos. It appears that there are, again, two roosters in the hen house.

Yes, Mr. Hubert we have another ego manic on board. Not voted in by the people, but in a way, he was.
He was appointed to his city council position by the same three seats bought for the price of slick campaign brochures mailed to the uninformed residents of Los Alamitos.
So, we can thank all the uninformed residents in our fair city for latest embarrassment.

You must be back on duty at taxpayer expense to be making comments. For someone who knows all, sees all and is so righteous, it is amazing that you “havent been paying much attention lately”. Or like so many others, posting under a phony name. Please pay attention and keep us informed, you know, the most trusted voice!
