(Los Alamitos, 1/25/2012)   It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for our weekly post where you can report and comment on items of interest you come across in any of our local media.

Today’s News Enterprise’s front page story on the Council’s actions regarding Council Member Kusumoto’s alleged Brown Act Violations gave a detailed, balanced explanation that  I thought showed a good grasp of the issues by Editor/reporter Apodaca.  What do you think?

I was also impressed by Apodaca’s announced goal of completing the Race on the Base’s 5 k in under 30 minutes, considering he has to walk part of that distance currently.   The Race is exactly one month from today, & Ted’s got me wondering if I could break that 10 minute mile barrier for three miles.  Hmmmm  if it weren’t for the all  concrete course, I’d probably do it.   For more info go to (you guessed it!) RaceOnTheBaae.com.

Whether it’s the News Enterprise,  The Sun, The L.A. Times, L.B. Press Telegram, OC Register,, or  local websites like The Los Al Patch, The OC Breeze, or OCNews360 or the online versions of any paper, this is the place tolet the community know about it & to post your perspective, all at the speed of light!

If you found it interesting, or want to comment (especially on the local weeklies, where it won’t print for a week!), put it up here.

We put this post up every Wednesday, so this is the place for things you haven’t posted yet or you note over the next 7 days.

Please briefly describe what caught your eye before commenting  & please include a brief topic in place  of your “name,”  giving your real name or handle in the comment itself.

  1. OC Sheriff backs DeLong over Edgar: on January 24th, 2012 3:52 pm

This just in from The Patch:

The congressional campaign of Long Beach City Councilman Gary DeLong received a significant boost Monday afternoon, as Orange County Sheriff-Coroner Sandra Hutchens pitched in her endorsement.

DeLong adds Hutchens to a list of endorsements in the race that includes former Gov. George Deukmejian, U.S. Congressman Dan Lungren, U.S. Congressman Ed Royce, State Board of Equalization Vice Chair Michelle Steel, Los Angeles Country Supervisor Don Knabe and the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce.

“Gary DeLong and I share the same goal of working to improve public safety in our community,” Sheriff Hutchens said. “He has demonstrated a strong and unyielding commitment to public safety and law enforcement concerns along with a devotion to the welfare of law enforcement professionals.”

    Ouch and Ouch

    U.S. Congressman Ed Royce
    and
    Orange County Sheriff-Coroner Sandra Hutchens

This sort of hurts the whole “I’m the OC GOP person” meme that Troy has been peddling.

Things will get real interesting when the other side of public safety pitches its endorsement! Should be an interesting read…can’t wait.

    Well isn’t this special ! !

Those whining cry babies don’t want any aircraft noise on their precious Old Town/Hill area. Welcome to our hell in the Los Alamitos / Rossmoor area. I think it’s about time that somebody else SHARES the noise. We have plenty of noise to go around and would love to share it with you.

Seal Beach wants them to fly over Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station and then what?? Right back over Rossmoor/ Los Alamitos. No thank you, we all ready have OUR SHARE of aircraft noise.

Suck it up, Old Town and the Hill

  6. Saturday Los Alamitos power outage on January 28th, 2012 4:34 pm

Power went out around 2:00 due to an animal apparently shorting out a transformer on
Farquhar. An Edison field crew has completed their work but no ETA for power as of 4:00 p.m. :-(. Keep the fridge closed, be careful with candles, and enjoy the simple life ;) . Outage includes most of Suburbia, what about your neighborhood?

  7. power to the people on January 28th, 2012 4:58 pm

Power back on, at least in Suburbia, around 4:50. Thanks, Edison.
