2/22/12 update:  The asphalt delivery’s been delayed until this Thursday or Friday, 2/24 or 25, so completion’s pushed back to next week.  Click here for additional details.

(Los Alamitos, 2/18/2012)  Here’s the latest from City Engineer Dave Hunt:

Construction activities for last week included:

  • removal of the asphalt and median island
  • curb framing
  • placement of the curb concrete
  • pouring the curb concrete for the western and small middle section.

One rain delay day was added for Wednesday the 15th.

On Tuesday, 2/21,  they are scheduled to pave the asphalt sections and then finish up with the interlocking pavers.

They should be done with construction by Friday.  There most likely be a little cleanup work the following week but the lane closures will end this coming week.

After the asphalt is placed (hopefully Tuesday, 2/21),  I will work with the contractor to remove the lane closures at the end of the day and only put them up when they are working in the median island.

They are a few days between their schedule but still way ahead of the city’s [6 week] schedule.

A little good news to brighten your weekend!
