(Los Alamitos, 2/6/2012) With the help of a city staffer we’ve solved yesterday’s mystery (see “Mystery Council Closed Session Monday”):
12. CLOSED SESSION
Conference with Legal Counsel
INITIATION OF LITIGATION: (G.C. 54956.9(c)) One Case
(adv. Council Member Kusumoto)
Yesterday we told you that the code reference is to a portion of the California General Code that deals with the Brown Act.
Today we learned that, according to our increasingly expensive City Attorney, “adv.” means “adverse.”
So the last item on tonight’s agenda is a closed session to discuss suing Council Member Kusumoto for something having to do with the Brown Act.
Looks like the most interesting work gets done behind closed doors.

However, you do have the right to comment on that agenda item in public.
And there’s plenty of interest that will be done in public, at least according to tonight’s agenda, including consideration of modifying the code to make the selection of the fifth highest trash bidder legal. (Click here for our November post on the plan when it was originally introduced.)
And lots more.
So show up at City Hall or set your DVR for channel 3 at 7 tonight for at least 3 – 4 hours, and then let us know what you see & what you think in a comment right here.
For tonight’s agenda, followed by attachments, staff reports & lots of info, click here.
FYI: City Council meetings are rebroadcast the next morning at 7, and the following night at 7. They are also rebroadcast on Friday and Saturday mornings at 7, and Monday morning at 7.
As always, please try to be diplomatic, use relatively family friendly language, andplease briefly describe what you are commenting on before making your comment. Not everyone has or taped TV3.
