(1/24/2012 10 p.m. update:) Last night the Los Alamitos City Council moved forward on appointing a Deputy City Clerk to work for 20 hours a week, most  likely  through the end of the year.

The plan appears to be to not hire a full time City Clerk until next year, with the City Manager continuing to hold the formal title of City Clerk, with  Department Secretary Windmera  ”Windy” Quintanar and the new Deputy City Clerk carrying the bulk of the workload.

With the expected new Deputy City Clerk having expertise in   elections, she or he will train Windy in that area while Windy brings her knowledge of our local arrangements.

Once the details have been agreed to, the candidate’s name will be released.  The Council plans to vote on the agreement on February 6.

(1/23/2012)  In an Agenda dated Sunday, 1/22, a Special City Council Meeting was called for 7:30 tonight, Monday, to appoint & negotiate salary, benefits, and responsibilities with our new City Clerk.

I’m not sure who it might be, although I have a few uninformed ideas.  As always, I’m hoping for a unanimous, or at least 4 to 1, choice.   If I find out, I’ll update this post, if you already know, please inform us in acomment below.
