(3/10/09)  Looks like there are three major items on this month’s traffic commission agenda:

  1. Input from the Traffic Commission on the city’s 2009 7 year Capital Improvement Program.
  2. CVS pharmacy’s request for a drive-through window at the store they are planning for 3401 Katella.  (According to Google Maps this is the large two story office building on the northeast corner of Katella & Chestnut, across Katella from the Blockbuster. )
  3. Follow up on 2 of the items JM Ivler brought Read more

Son Nate just added some new “plug-ins” to this blog, and I’m so excited about it I’d say I was “giddy” except that was the word Concil Member Edgar used when he nominated Dean Grose to be Mayor.

You’ve now got three new ways to share and stay connected with what’s going on here at LetsFixLosAl:

  1. The “subscribe” button at the upper right lets you subscribe to the RSS feed from LetsFixLosAl.  (If you understand what that means and how to do it, maybe you can share it with the rest of us in a comment below.)
  2. At the bottom of each post we now have a “share this” button that makes it easy for you to share a specific post using email,  your favorite social networking method, or posting it on your own blog or profile.  This one’s pretty simple, but you do have to click the “share this” button.   I just used it to e-mail a link to myself, without coaching from Nate.
  3. Under the “submit comment” button under the comment box on each post is a box you can check if you want to be notified by e-mail when additional comments are posted.

Now we’re going to let you try out our new reader poll plug-in.  A few paragraphs below is a question that’s pretty relevant ahead of Monday night’s City Council meeting where Mayor Grose has announced he plans to resign as Mayor but NOT as Councilman.

But first, you might want to check out what the whole world can learn about our Mayor on CNN, and yet another flawed attempt by the Mayor to explain himself.

Just click here and scroll down to the TV screen shot of reporter Michelle Gile holding a mike out to Mayor Grose, as shown here.

What has he learned?  I’ve learned that you don’t forward e-mails because no matter what type of e-mail it is or what kind of a joke it may seem like, it could be offensive to somebody.”

Really?  “no matter what type of e-mail it is?”   I’ve forwarded quite a few e-mails and so far I don’t think I’ve offended anyone. STILL doesn’t get it!

On this poll, you can check as many boxes as you’d like.

Who needs to resign from the Los Alamitos City Council to get it back on track? (select as many as you wish)

  • Dean Grose needs to resign both as Mayor and from the City Co uncil (89.0%)
  • Troy Edgar, who nominated Dean Grose to be Mayor and not returned phone calls from the press or taken a position publicly (50.0%)
  • Marilyn Poe, who seconded Troy's nomination of Dean for Mayor and was seen literally running away from an O.C. Register reporter (50.0%)
  • Ken Stephens, who voted for Grose but did return the Register's phone call and said Dean's e-mail was probably "inappropriate" (21.0%)
  • nobody needs to resign (11.0%)
  • Gerri Mejia, who has generally opposed the majority that made Grose Mayor and was bypassed when Grose was elected (3.0%)
  • Dean Grose only needs to resign as Mayor but should stay on the City Council (0.0%)

Thank you for participating.  (3/2 11 p.m. update:  Since Dean has now resigned from both and Troy was elected Mayor tonight in a unbelievable, cold blooded act of unbridaled power and disdain for the people by Marilyn, Ken, and Troy, we’re closing this poll and opening another on the “Your comments on the 3/2 Council Meeting” post.

I’d encourage you to also vote in the OC Register’s poll on exactly what, if anything, Mayor Grose should resign from.  It would be good to have more actual Los Al residents and businesses represented on that poll.  (The first option is Mayor, the second is both Mayor and Council, and the third which can be misunderstood the way it’s phrased, is he shouldn’t resign from anything.)

Please click “more” to post and/or read comments, let us know how you like our first poll, and suggest future polls. Read more
