Help Los Al High, a Scout, your wife/hubby/cook & stomach tonight @ Nick’s

Nick's famous deli sandwiches are amazing!
6/1, 9 p.m. update: If you missed it, I’m sorry. Good food, good company, good cause! But you can still send a donation in the form of a check made out to Joey Paulson/Troop 642. Send it to 3131 Bostonian in Rossmoor. You won’t get the food, but 100% of the money will go to supplies for the project. Read on for the details of this worthy project.
And you can still enjoy Nick’s great food 7 days a week from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. just around the corner from another excellent Los Al eatery, Hoff’s, and across the street from the outstanding Mediterranean Preveza.
Talk about a restaurant hat trick! And I didn’t even get up the street to Paul’s Place, or finish off at the Yogurt Twist next to Nick’s!
Who needs to drive south to those North Seal Beach chain stores to eat! We’ve got it all right here in Los Al. . . and I didn’t even mention Katella Deli or Gourmet Cafe & Pie.
(June 1, 2010, Los Alamitos, CA) This one may be as good as it gets!
- One of my favorite Los Al informal eateries.
- A much-needed facility for Los Al High athletes
- A home grown scout working to earn his Eagle
- Sales tax revenue for our city.
I just had to put up a post, even if it’s Read more

Filed Under Inspiration, Local events | 2 Comments
(5/5/2010, Los Alamitos) According to Wikipedia, the idea of a “National Day of Prayer in the U.S. dates back to a 1775 proclamation of the Continental Congress, but the idea of an annual National Day of Prayer came from Billy Graham during a 1952 crusade in Washington, D.C.
While the idea of the federal government proclaiming a Day of Prayer has become somewhat controversial, I’d hope few would question the right of people of faith to gather to pray for the nation and its leaders. I, for one, think Read more

(10 p.m., 11/21/09, by Dave Emerson) Taking a brief break from Los Al news & politics, I made a discovery this evening I thought worth sharing with local sports fans.
Apparently Tuesday night’s blowout loss by the Angels (and possibly the ensuing melee of gloating Yankees fans) has resulted in a fairly large number of Angels season seat holders dumping their seats for Thursday’s game on Read more
