(2/8/2012, Los Alamitos) Starting tomorrow morning you’ll want tobe prepared for gridlock for the next 2 – 3 weeks or more due to the new median being built on Katella by Blockbuster (Chestnut).

Because, although the work is only done from 8:30 to 4:30 weekdays, Katella is reduced by one lane in each direction 24/7.   That’s because cuts have now been made two feet into each of the center lanes, according to our City Engineer.

The good news is the contractor is trying to wrap the job up in less than half the allotted time, weather permitting.

Believe it or not, the City consulted with Cal Trans and this is the best time this side of summer, coming during a break in Cal Trans closures.

At peak hours, gridlock is worse.  Hopefully it will be over in a few weeks.

The lanes weren’t closed  Wednesday morning, they are now.

You have been warned.
