Meet Traffic Commissioner Daniel Patz
February 25, 2013 in Commissions, Traffic By: Dave Emerson
(2/25/2013, Los Alamitos) Los Alamitos maintains five City Commissions to provide input and guidance to City Staff and the City Council in five areas:
1. Planning
2. Traffic
3. Personnel
4. Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts
5. Cable (TV)
In January the City Council appointed and re-appointed Commissioners for several of our Commissions.
I’ve found all of our Commissioners to be dedicated individuals who give of their time to support our community.
At the suggestion of one of our readers, I hope to put up brief bios of some of our Commissioners.
Today we’ll take a brief look at Daniel Patz, who was recently appointed to Los Alamitos’ Planning Commission. He has a very interesting life story, which includes significant involvement in our City and Schools.
I’ll bet you can’t guess which war he’s a Veteran of!
Meet Traffic Commissioner Daniel Patz, in his own words:
I was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. I’m a military veteran of the 6th South African Infantry Corp. I immigrated to the US in September 1979 and became a US citizen in September 1986.
I’m married to Cecilia. We have one child, Matthew, a sophomore at Los Alamitos High School. I am chairman of the School Site Council at Los Alamitos High School and chairman of the Los Alamitos Unified School District Advisory Council.
I am a Senior Project Manager with Southern California Edison with 30 years of service. I graduated from California State University, Long Beach, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and have a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of La Verne.
I am an Assistant Scoutmaster and Troop Advancement Chairman of Troop 120 out of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Long Beach.
I previously served for four years on the Personnel Appeals Commission in Los Alamitos. The commission did not meet once in those four years. I applied to move to a more active commission and was appointed to the Traffic Commission on January 22nd 2013.
Thanks, Daniel, for your willingness to serve!
Thank you Dave, Good idea to introduce the commissioners to the residents. I think many are not even aware there are commissions.
Welcome to Mr. Patz and thank you for serving.
A great addition to the current Commission.
