(2/10/2013, Los Alamitos) As requested by the City Council at their last regular meeting, Los Alamitos’ Planning Commission will revisit their decision to restrict liquor sales and operating hours at the proposed 7-11 on Ball Road.
7-11 originally applied to operate the 7-Eleven on a 24 hour basis and sell alcohol during the hours such sales are allowed in California (6 a.m. – 2 a.m.). The Planning Commission originally restricted the operating hours to 6 a.m. to midnight, with alcohol sales ending at 10 p.m. due to the property’s proximity to residences, among other things.
7-11 appealed to the City Council to allow a 5 a.m. opening and liquor sales from 6 am to midnight. Since the appeal was for different hours than the original 24 hour application, the Council remanded the matter back to the Planning Commission.
City staff is recommending adjusting to a 5 a.m. opening time but continuing to restrict alcohol sales to the hours between 6 am and 10 pm.

As always, your comments, perspective, and reporting if you attend the meeting are appreciated.
Is there a way to pass 7 Elevens application on to Cypress or Seal Beach? Sounds like they would be a better fit in a city that is more business friendly.
Why can’t they give them the 5am to Midnight and see how it goes?
This city did a great job of restricting Twins Grill right out of town, who or what is the perfect fit for Los Alamitos? I would like to know before we waste all this time on random businesses and their applications, appeals and restrictions…
