(Los Alamitos, 6/1/2012) This just in from the good people at the Rossmoor Predator Management Team. Looks like it’s that time of year again, possibly made worse by grate removal during the work on the freeways:
RPMT has received 2 warnings this morning from members that coyotes were heard on the backside of Yellowtail and seen around Lee Elementary.By this email, we are requesting O.C. Public Works to ensure that CalTrans has not lifted our grates in the storm drains entering into Rossmoor. Please keep kids and pets supervised at all times when outdoors. The male coyotes are teaching their pups how to hunt and can be seen together. They have in the past, attacked/killed a large dog in the afternoon. Please be careful and continue to report all sights, attacks, killings. The wolf urine should be arriving within the next couple of days. At each location of these sightings, we will be applying.Remember: coyotes will enter opened/unlocked doggy doors! [ad]
