2010 Council priorities, new city engineer, trash bid on Los Al City Council’s Tuesday agenda
Filed Under City Council Meetings, Planning & Zoning
(1/18/2010, Los Alamitos) After their 5:30 Special Meeting to interview 5 candidates for 3 vacancies on Los Alamitos’ Planning Commission (see “Resigned Los Al Mayor’s wife to interview for Planning Commission“), the Council will probably move directly into their first Regular Meeting of the decade at about 7:00 Tuesday night, 1/19/201.
Several interesting topics are included on a fairly lengthy agenda:
(links will take you to the staff report or relevent attachment for the specified topic):
- 2010 goals, objectives, and performance evaluation for the City Manager and, by implication, the priorities for the Council for 2010. On the whole, I think there’s a lot to like in this document. The primary topics are “financial viability,” “future growth–revenue growth, and “future growth–general plan.” Creative ideas included in the plan include possible annexation of the southwest corner of Katella & Los Al Blvd, a possible redevelopment district, and several other items I really like. - Contracting with a new City Engineer because the current one is limited in his hours by his PERS retirement contract, much as was City Manager Dave Rudat.
- Approval of Request for Proposals (RFP) Document for Solid Waste Collection Services and Authorization to Seek Proposals from Prospective Bidders. Click above for the 65 page request for proposals, click here for the 113 page draft of the new solid waste services contract, and click here for the 3 page staff report on the agenda item itself.
Of course there’s more on the agenda, including rehbilitation of Katella between Siboney and Walker, resurfacing in Rossmoor Highlands, and handicapped ramps for Carrier Row. a

As always, your thoughts and comments are welcome, as well as your first-hand reporting on the meeting itself. If you can’t be there in person or watch it live, you can always tape it if you get Los Al TV3.
