Staff recommends Los Al Council increase density & low income housing Monday night!
Filed Under City Council Meetings, Planning & Zoning | 51 Comments

Ready for more traffic?
(12/20/2009, Los Alamitos) Are you ready for greater density and more low income housing in Los Alamitos?
Would you like to see all restrictions removed on group homes in Los Alamitos, apparently including half-way houses?
Would you like to see zoning restrictions eased to “allow for Single Room Occupancy units?” Would that lead to subdividing single family homes?
If you’d like to see increased traffic, worse parking problems, more low income residents, more demands on police and fire services, you’re going to love this report, that’s on a fast track to approval this Monday night!
All of the above appear to be included in the 127 page 2006 -2014 Housing Element that our city staff is recommending the City Council adopt at their Monday, 12/21 7 p.m. Regular Meeting, after conducting a Read more

(12/18/2009, Los Alamitos, by Dave Emerson) A friend of mine in a neighboring community came home from work last night to find her home ransacked and a number of items missing, including two flat screen TVs.
Happy Holidays!

“Snail paper update:” Lost in the fog?
Filed Under Uncategorized | 13 Comments
(12/4/2009, 7:54 A.M.) Forget my ship coming in–I’d just like my “morning” newspaper to arrive while it’s still morning. Preferably before I leave for my first appointment!
There still doesn’t seem to be much improvement in the late delivery in Los Alamitos of the three main daily print newspapers that we first mentioned here two weeks ago.
Reporting from the “south of Farquahr” front, after a couple of days of on-time delivery while a “supervisor” was apparently Read more

What do YOU think of the President’s troop build-up?
Filed Under National Issues, The Base | Leave a Comment
(12/3/09) Living in a town where half of the total real estate is owned by the military, the President’s Tuesday announcement of his plans to deploy 30,000 additional troops to Afganistan should be especially important to Los Alamitos residents.
I’ve heard quite a few different opinions, but thought it would be good to see what others who live here think. Personally, I was glad that Read more
